On Friday, March 14, 2025, as part of the Pi Day Celebration, the workshop Artificial Intelligence for Beginners: How and Where to Learn AI? took place, facilitated by Małgorzata Przybyła-Kasperek and Kornel Chromiński. The session offered a clear and engaging introduction to artificial intelligence and showed that AI is not just science fiction, but a technology already shaping everyday life—from facial recognition on smartphones to modern recommendation systems.
To ensure an age-appropriate experience, the workshop was divided into two groups. Younger participants (ages 10–14) explored AI through interactive, play-based learning. Using a Scratch-based platform, they created simple AI models and observed how a computer can “learn” to recognize patterns. Older participants (15+) went deeper into AI programming with Python. They learned the fundamentals of machine learning and practiced training AI models using the Priscilla platform. The workshop also included sessions on prompt engineering and the use of generative AI in education, aligned with the new teaching approach being developed within the FITPED GAI project.
Overall, the workshop provided an excellent opportunity for participants to begin their AI journey, gain hands-on experience, and better understand how artificial intelligence can be meaningfully applied—especially in the context of education.
